Inspired by the British Countryside, artist Rosie Midwood created lifestyle brand Curious Living to capture the joys of rural life. From dog walks through woodlands to picking fresh vegetables from your garden; she turns these moments into beautiful illustrations.
Rosie studied textiles at Loughborough University. After graduating she worked as a fashion print designer in London before going freelance alongside persuing Curious Living full-time.
Rosie has developed a unique process for her artworks; first she hand paints the design on canvas fabric before free-motion stitching layers of detail with a variety of threads to create a uniquely tactile surface texture and quality to the artwork.
From these original artworks Rosie has developed a range of popular printed illustrations including cards, prints, mugs and more to come. She also loves to work on bespoke commissions and pet portraits.
You can check out Rosie’s work on her Etsy Shop or follow her journey on instagram @curiouslivinguk .
Always a sketchbook in hand Rosie loves to quickly sketch new ideas when traveling!
When starting a new design Rosie gather fabrics, wallpapers, books and magazine tears that inspire her.
The start of a new piece is painting, capturing the overall character, style and colour of her subject matter.
Rosie has collected an extensive range of colour threads to utilise in her embroideries, selecting the perfect tones to add on top of her painting
The most important stage, Stitching!! And there is lots of it.. building up layers upon layers of different coloured threads adding in all the detail and distinctive texture.
Unique artworks combining painting, stitching and lots of character!
